During the Civil War, a Union soldier is injured, captured and held prisoner at a boarding school for Confederate girls. It is during his stay there that he begins to manipulate each of the residents of the school, taking advantage of the situation and their intense loneliness. In time, the girls begin to fight and manipulate one another in an effort to win his affections. It is not long, however, before the tables are turned and he becomes the subject of their ire.
